Housing Choice Voucher program (previously know as Section 8 vouchers) offers rent assistance that enables low-income families and individuals to rent from a private landlord with monthly rental assistance administered by the Housing Authority. The state of Arizona has an allotment of 70 vouchers for homeless veterans and an additional 89 vouchers for the general population of Yavapai County. The waiting list is currently closed – applications are not being accepted at this time. When the waiting list is open, a notice is published in local newspapers and social service agencies are notified. Because of the small number of vouchers, the waiting list is open infrequently.
